Weiland Farms
Weiland Farms manages farmland assets for investors. While their core business is grain production, this marketing effort focuses on strategic diversification. By dedicating a portion of their acreage to alternative corn varieties, Weiland Farms aims to enhance profitability and explore new opportunities.
The primary goal of this project was to assess the viability of entering niche markets for alternative types of corn and make recommendations as to which corn variety(s) to plant. The key area of focus includes, cropping differences from Yellow/Dent corn, geography of cropping areas, seed stock, markets and a description of end users, history of farmgate prices, and a thorough understanding of marketing channels including contracts and traders.
The methodology used for this study included a comprehensive review of industry reports and data sources related to alternative corn crops. Additionally primary research methods included interviews with industry expert, processors, and buyers.
Based on the findings of the market research report, Weiland Farms will be equipped to make informed decisions regarding their entry into niche markets for alternative corn crops.
